Fitness Newcastle
I thought I would start my blog by introducing myself. My name is Bouncy. That's my nickname, everyone calls me that. It's because I've always got so much energy, it is like I'm bouncing off the walls like I'm the ball in the pinball machine. My passion is fitness Newcastle . This is what I call it anyway. Getting fit in my hometown. My dream is to be able to compete in the NBN Sparke Helmore Newcastle triathlon.
I was thinking of going in the sort course but I changed my mind and now I am going in the long course. I will train full time for about a year. After a year if I feel I can be competitive I will enter the race. I recently went and watched this year's one and there were loads of competitors. It was great, I think the total number was around 600 people. Most being hobby athletes or doing it for fun, But there would of been around 150-200 people who competed to win. They have the long course, short course and the super short course. Most people go in the short course.
I think around 400 went in this one. It is ideal in length for the half serious athlete. 500m swim, 20km ride and 5km run. With a few good months of training anyone can enter this race. I was pleased to see the amount of support that was there for all the competitors. When the winner came down the towards the finish line everyone was clapping and cheering him on, it was fantastic. I want to be that guy, I want to be the guy coming first running towards the TV cameras while everyone cheers me on. My training started a few weeks ago, at the moment I am just running, in 2 weeks I will also be swimming consistently and also riding.
My local swim centre is 5km away so I will ride there and back each day which will give me an extra 10km ride each day just to get to do my swimming training. I believe that with hard work I can win this race and I will be doing everything in my power to make this happen. Some people go through life just existing, I want to be great. I want to be remembered as someone special. When someone thinks of Newcastle fitness, I want to be the person who was so elite that everyone immediately thinks of me. I'm looking to go down in history as one of the greatest sporting icons of Newcastle and I will do whatever it takes to get there. There is nothing more satisfying then winning a race or achieving a personal goal. This triathlon is my goal and I will achieve what I want. I am determined to win this race and make some new friends along the way. I believe fitness is also a state of mind. You need to train your mind as hard as your body in order to succeed. Stay tuned for updates on my training for this event.
